A3L Gi Size: Height, Weight and Who It Fits

Short answer: A3L fits 190–198 cm (6′3″–6′6″) and 77–93 kg (170–205 lb). It is the Long cut of A3: the same body with longer sleeves and longer trousers.

Against a plain A3 it is +6 cm jacket wingspan, +6 cm jacket length, +5 cm trouser length. Everything else is identical to A3: jacket chest, trouser waist.

Where these sizes start, stop and overlap. Bands that share a weight range but not a height range are the ones people get wrong.

How to know it's you

If the jacket fitted your chest but the sleeves sat high on your forearm, and the trousers cleared your ankle bone, you sized correctly for your weight and incorrectly for your frame. That is what A3L fixes.

Wingspan is cuff to cuff, jacket length is collar to hem, chest is laid flat. These are the numbers the size is cut to, not an estimate from the chart.

If A3L is not quite it

A2L is the only step available in this cut. If the problem is that one half of you is a different size from the other, order it that way: a jacket in one size and trousers in another is a normal order here. About one gi in ten we shipped between 31 July and 29 September 2026 went out that way, and the mixed-size gi guide shows how to pick the pair.

And if no combination on the chart works, custom sizing is $189 and is cut to your measurements.

Size has nothing to do with legality, but fit does. The IBJJF measures sleeve and trouser length against your wrist and ankle with the arm extended, and a gi that is too short fails at weigh-in. The full requirements cover colour, fabric and the measurement rules.
