F3 Gi Size: Height, Weight and Who It Fits

Short answer: F3 fits 170–178 cm (5′7″–5′10″) and 66–78 kg (146–172 lb). It is the Women’s cut of null: the women’s cut, drawn around a different set of proportions rather than scaled down from the unisex chart.

Where these sizes start, stop and overlap. Bands that share a weight range but not a height range are the ones people get wrong.

How to know it's you

The F-series is drawn around a different set of proportions, not scaled down from the unisex chart — shorter in the body, narrower in the shoulder, cut for hips. If an A-size has ever fitted your shoulders and fought you everywhere else, F3 is the reason the F chart exists.

If F3 is not quite it

Step down to F2 or up to F4 if the band is wrong on weight. If the problem is that one half of you is a different size from the other, order it that way: a jacket in one size and trousers in another is a normal order here. Size has nothing to do with legality, but fit does. The IBJJF measures sleeve and trouser length against your wrist and ankle with the arm extended, and a gi that is too short fails at weigh-in. The full requirements cover colour, fabric and the measurement rules.
