Sizing
F2 Gi Size: Height, Weight and Who It Fits
Updated
Short answer: F2 fits 164–172 cm (5'5"–5'8") and 58–70 kg (128–154 lb). It is the Women's cut of null: the women's cut, drawn around a different set of proportions rather than scaled down from the unisex chart.
F2 against its neighbours
| Size | Cut | Height | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| F2 | Women's | 164–172 cm | 58–70 kg |
| F2L | Women's Long | 172–180 cm | 60–72 kg |
| F2W | Women's Wide | 164–172 cm | 68–82 kg |
| F1 | Women's | 158–166 cm | 50–62 kg |
| F3 | Women's | 170–178 cm | 66–78 kg |
How to know it's you
The F-series is drawn around a different set of proportions, not scaled down from the unisex chart — shorter in the body, narrower in the shoulder, cut for hips. If an A-size has ever fitted your shoulders and fought you everywhere else, F2 is the reason the F chart exists.
Is F2 you?
Two numbers and we’ll tell you straight, including when the answer is a different size.
The finished gi, measured flat
Wingspan is cuff to cuff, jacket length is collar to hem, chest is laid flat. These are the numbers the size is cut to, not an estimate from the chart.
| Measurement | F2 | F2L | F2W | F1 | F3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jacket wingspan | 146 cm | 156 cm | 146 cm | 142 cm | 156 cm |
| Jacket length | 69 cm | 72 cm | 69 cm | 66 cm | 72 cm |
| Jacket chest | 54 cm | 50 cm | 54 cm | 48 cm | 54 cm |
| Trouser length | 94 cm | 98 cm | 94 cm | 90 cm | 98 cm |
| Trouser waist | 52 cm | 52 cm | 56 cm | 50 cm | 56 cm |
If F2 is not quite it
Step down to F1 or up to F3 if the band is wrong on weight. If the problem is that one half of you is a different size from the other, order it that way: a jacket in one size and trousers in another is a normal order here. It is the option we ship most after the plain A-sizes, which tells you how many people the standard grid does not fit.
And if no combination on the chart works, custom sizing is $189 and is cut to your measurements.
Is F2 IBJJF legal?
Size has nothing to do with legality, but fit does. The IBJJF measures sleeve and trouser length against your wrist and ankle with the arm extended, and a gi that is too short fails at weigh-in. The full requirements cover colour, fabric and the measurement rules.
