Sizing
A0 Gi Size: Height, Weight and Who It Fits
Updated
Short answer: A0 fits 152–163 cm (5'0"–5'4") and 50–64 kg (110–141 lb). A plain A-size, no cut applied. It is the smallest adult size we cut; below it the kids M-series takes over.
A0 against its neighbours
| Size | Cut | Height | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| A0 | Standard | 152–163 cm | 50–64 kg |
| A0F | Fitted | 152–163 cm | 45–57 kg |
| A0W | Wide | 152–163 cm | 54–75 kg |
| A1 | Standard | 163–173 cm | 64–75 kg |
How to know it's you
A0 is where adult sizing starts. If it still hangs off you, you are not looking for a smaller A-size — you are looking at the Fitted cut, or at the kids M-series if this is for a child.
Is A0 you?
Two numbers and we’ll tell you straight, including when the answer is a different size.
The finished gi, measured flat
Wingspan is cuff to cuff, jacket length is collar to hem, chest is laid flat. These are the numbers the size is cut to, not an estimate from the chart.
| Measurement | A0 | A0F | A0W | A1 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jacket wingspan | 150 cm | 150 cm | — | 162 cm |
| Jacket length | 71 cm | 71 cm | — | 76 cm |
| Jacket chest | 48 cm | 44 cm | — | 54 cm |
| Trouser length | 92 cm | 92 cm | — | 94 cm |
| Trouser waist | 50 cm | 42 cm | — | 54 cm |
If A0 is not quite it
A1 is the only step available in this cut. If the problem is that one half of you is a different size from the other, order it that way: a jacket in one size and trousers in another is a normal order here. It is the option we ship most after the plain A-sizes, which tells you how many people the standard grid does not fit.
And if no combination on the chart works, custom sizing is $189 and is cut to your measurements.
Is A0 IBJJF legal?
Size has nothing to do with legality, but fit does. The IBJJF measures sleeve and trouser length against your wrist and ankle with the arm extended, and a gi that is too short fails at weigh-in. The full requirements cover colour, fabric and the measurement rules.
