A5 Gi Size: Height, Weight and Who It Fits

Short answer: A5 fits 196–203 cm (6′5″–6′8″) and 113–122 kg (249–269 lb). A plain A-size, no cut applied. It is the largest size we cut, and the end of the chart.

Where these sizes start, stop and overlap. Bands that share a weight range but not a height range are the ones people get wrong.

How to know it's you

A5 is the end of the chart. If it is still short in the sleeve or tight across the chest, there is no bigger size to step to and the answer is a gi cut to your measurements.

If A5 is not quite it

A4 is the only step available in this cut. If the problem is that one half of you is a different size from the other, order it that way: a jacket in one size and trousers in another is a normal order here. And if no combination on the chart works, custom sizing is $189 and is cut to your measurements.

Size has nothing to do with legality, but fit does. The IBJJF measures sleeve and trouser length against your wrist and ankle with the arm extended, and a gi that is too short fails at weigh-in. The full requirements cover colour, fabric and the measurement rules.
