Sizing
A2 Gi Size: Height, Weight and Who It Fits
Updated
Short answer: A2 fits 173–183 cm (5'8"–6'0") and 75–88 kg (165–194 lb). A plain A-size, no cut applied. It sits in the busiest part of the range, where most of the sport is.

How to know it's you
If a gi has ever fitted you without you thinking about it, you are the build the A-series was drawn for and A2 is where your numbers land. The moment you start noticing the sleeves or the back, the fix is a cut — A2F, A2L, A2W — not a different number.
Is A2 you?
Two numbers and we’ll tell you straight, including when the answer is a different size.
The finished gi, measured flat
Wingspan is cuff to cuff, jacket length is collar to hem, chest is laid flat. These are the numbers the size is cut to, not an estimate from the chart.
| Measurement | A2 | A2F | A2L | A2W | A1 | A3 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jacket wingspan | 170 cm | 170 cm | 180 cm | 170 cm | 162 cm | 180 cm |
| Jacket length | 80 cm | 80 cm | 84 cm | 80 cm | 76 cm | 84 cm |
| Jacket chest | 58 cm | 54 cm | 58 cm | 64 cm | 54 cm | 64 cm |
| Trouser length | 99 cm | 99 cm | 105 cm | 99 cm | 94 cm | 105 cm |

If A2 is not quite it
Step down to A1 or up to A3 if the band is wrong on weight. If the problem is that one half of you is a different size from the other, order it that way: a jacket in one size and trousers in another is a normal order here. It is the option we ship most after the plain A-sizes, which tells you how many people the standard grid does not fit.
And if no combination on the chart works, custom sizing is $189 and is cut to your measurements.
Is A2 IBJJF legal?
Size has nothing to do with legality, but fit does. The IBJJF measures sleeve and trouser length against your wrist and ankle with the arm extended, and a gi that is too short fails at weigh-in. The full requirements cover colour, fabric and the measurement rules.
